Criminal Investigations

Detective JB Brown and Investigator Howard Trapnell are responsible for investigations for the Alexandria Police Department. The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) takes cases which were begun by patrol officers for various criminal offenses and conducts in-depth investigations, many times leading to the apprehension of the person responsible for the offense.

At major crime scenes, the investigators and the officers work the investigation as a team and perform professional and thorough investigations. These cases range from minor property crimes to rape and armed robberies. In 2011, there was an 13.2 % decease of Part 1 and Part 2 crimes reported and investigated by the department.
