ALEXANDRIA, Kentucky The Alexandria Park and Recreation Board invites the community to the grand opening of the new disc golf course at Alexandria community Park. Free discs will be given to the first fifty guests and commemorative score cards provided for everyone. A ribbon-cutting will be followed by a nine-hole round of golf. Score cards of those who play will be drawn for three prizes. The grand opening will be on Saturday, September 13, starting at 9:00 AM at the city park.
The construction of this nine-hole course was overseen by Thomas Comers and Austin Zalac of Boy Scout Troop 96 as part of their Eagle Scout project. Comers and Zalac organized the entire project, recruited volunteers, secured all of the materials and ran the day of construction from start to finish. They were assisted in the design of the course by Tim Webster, an avid disc golfer, Fred Salaz and Adam Jones, both professional course designers.
